(ADPnews) - Mar 18, 2011 - Dutch consumers made last year purchases via Internet totalling more than EUR 8.2 billion (USD 11.6bn), an increase of 11% in annual terms.
The average number of purchases per consumer was up by 20% to 7.4, according to data of Thuiswinkel.org released on Friday. Consumers spent EUR 119 per item on the average, a decline of 14%.
Most was spent on travel, with telecommunication products and clothing being also popular choices.
In 2010 some 600,000 people made an online purchase for the first time. The number of online consumers in 2010 was 9.25 million, compared to a total population of 16.7 million.
