Fed: Whether a tax or a levy, we're not interested: McMullan

Labor says it's not interested in the argument on whether or not its proposed company
levy to fund a workers' entitlement scheme is a tax.

Opposition finance spokesman BOB MCMULLAN says Labor is proud it's the only party with
a fully-funded scheme to cover all workers in the event of a company collapse.

The government has challenged Opposition Leader MARK LATHAM's assertion that Labor
isn't proposing a new payroll tax, saying the workers' entitlement scheme is just that.

Mr MCMULLAN has told ABC radio that Labor plans to take an existing nine per cent levy
and raise it to 9.1 per cent for the bigger businesses in Australia.
